Through critical analysis and personal reflection\, it supports participants to realise ways that they can make a real difference.  \nRacial Justice is a lens through which we at NYCI approach our practice. At its heart it is about creating inclusive spaces in which people who experience racism can thrive and have a sense of belonging. It guides us in how we advocate on equitable outcomes for minority ethnic young people. Key to our understanding is an awareness of how wider social injustices impact on young people’s everyday lives. Racial justice is aligned with social justice\, a core value of youth work practice. Key to its realisation is self-reflection\, and a commitment to action within each person’s circle of influence. This training invites participants to join us on this journey[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”2px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30180”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nDate & time\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]30th May 2024 \n10am – 4pm[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30179”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nCost\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Free![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30178”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center” el_class=”img-65″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nVenue\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Carmelite Centre \n56 Aungier street Dublin 2  [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”2px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nObjectives\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]NYCI’s Racial Justice Training aims to:  \n\nSupport youth workers to become more proactive in tackling racial injustices\, \nBuild youth worker’s understanding on the long-lasting impacts of racism on young people. \nGenerate reflections on the choices we make and the power we hold as youth workers. \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDesigned for\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n\n\nYouth workers\nYouth work managers \nPeople working with young people in out of school settings \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nContact details\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Rachel Coffey \nRachelc@nyci.ie 086–1568453 [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDelivered by\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Equality and Intercultural Team\, National Youth Council of Ireland[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]Sorry. This year we will offer an additional workshop on Informing Parents/Guardians when a report has to be made to the statutory authorities (Tusla/An Garda Síochána). These workshops will take place in person\, at the The Croke Park Hotel\, Jones’ Road\, Drumcondra\, Dublin 3\, D03 E5Y8 on Tuesday 16th April 2024 and places are available for free! We are inviting youth workers\, safeguarding officers\, DLPs\, deputy DLPS\, managers\, and anyone else with safeguarding responsibilities in your youth work organisations to attend. We have 20 places available and you must attend for the full day. Tea\, coffee and lunch will be provided on the day. More information on the workshops is available below. \nWorkshop 1: Responding to a Disclosure \nDisclosure is a process where children/young people start to share their experiences of abuse or harm\, and it can take place over a period of time. It takes a lot of courage\, and they need to have someone they can trust who will believe them and get them help once they share this information. As a youth worker\, a child/young person may come to view you as a trusted adult in their life\, and they may decide to disclose to you that they are experiencing harm or abuse. There are many ways in which a child/young person may disclose that they are experiencing harm. They disclose directly or indirectly through other indicators\, so it’s important that we are able to recognise when we might be receiving a disclosure that something is wrong. This workshop is being run with a small number of participants so we can examine and role-play in small groups how you might recognise and respond to a disclosure from a child or young person. \nWorkshop 2: Informing Parents: \nBest practice advice from Tusla advises that we should inform parents/guardians about a concern that we have to report to the statutory bodies (Tusla or An Garda Síochána). This can be an anxiety-inducing process for staff as they want to maintain their relationship with the family of the child/young person involved. It is important to support parents/guardians through this process and to be clear about your obligations when it comes to safeguarding and protection of children/young people. This workshop is being run with a small number of participants so we can examine\, and role play in small groups what we need to do in advance of informing parents\, informing parents\, and then the aftermath of informing parents of a concern that has to be reported to the statutory bodies (Tusla or An Garda Síochána).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”2px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30180”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nDate & time\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Tuesday 16th April 2024 \n9.30am – 5pm[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30179”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nCost\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Free![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30178”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center” el_class=”img-65″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nVenue\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Croke Park Hotel\, \nJones’ Road\, \nDrumcondra\, \nDublin 3 \nD03 E5Y8[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”2px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nObjectives\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Responding to a Disclosure: \n\nTo provide a space to explore what is a disclosure?\nTo understand and recognise when you receive a disclosure.\nTo give participants an opportunity to explore how they might receive a disclosure from a young person\, and how they respond to the child/young person who is disclosing.\nTo explore the aftermath of a disclosure (reporting\, supporting the child/young person\, minding yourself).\n\nInforming Parents: \n\nTo provide a space to explore how workers should prepare to inform parents/guardians about a concern that has to be reported to the statutory services.\nTo understand and recognise the impact on parents/guardians when they’re informed of a concern in relation to their child.\nTo give participants an opportunity to explore how they should go about informing parents/guardians of a concern.\nTo give participants an opportunity to explore what their role is when it comes to informing parents/guardians.\nTo explore the aftermath of informing parents that a concern has to be reported to statutory bodies.\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDesigned for\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n\nYouth workers\, safeguarding officers\, DLPs\, professionals and volunteers working directly with young people \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” el_class=”padding-50″][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nAdditional Important Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Please Read Before Booking \n  \nThis is a scheduled face-to-face training that will be delivered in-person at The Croke Park Hotel\, Dublin 3.  Participants are welcome to wear masks during the training if they so wish\, this is voluntary rather than mandatory so please be aware other participants may not be wearing masks. \n  \nThe location of this training is The Croke Park Hotel\, Jones’ Road\, Drumcondra\, Dublin 3\, D03 E5Y8 \n  \nWe will provide tea and coffee at the breaks and sandwiches for lunch. The resource was developed to support the social\, emotional and mental wellbeing of young people. \nSocial and emotional wellbeing has been shown to contribute to young people’s academic outcomes\, their social development\, their capacity to contribute to the community\, and their ability to secure employment in adulthood. Social and emotional wellbeing is a protective factor against a range of health problems. There is an extensive amount of international evidence demonstrating that social and emotional wellbeing programmes can produce long-term benefits to the health and wellbeing of young people and provide the skills base for the prevention of a wider range of problem behaviours such as substance misuse\, emotional distress\, disruptive behaviour and risky health and sexual behaviours. \nThe programme focuses on the development of 5 core competencies for social and emotional learning: self-awareness\, self-management\, social awareness\, relationship management and responsible decision-making. The results of this rapid appraisal informed this consent training programme. \nThis training supports the objectives of the National Sexual Health Strategy 2015- 2020; with particular reference to Goal 1: Sexual Health promotion\, education and prevention where “everyone living in Ireland will receive comprehensive and age-appropriate sexual health education and/or information and will have access to appropriate prevention and promotion services.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nDate & time\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]21st of March 2024 \n10 am- 4 pm[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nCost\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Free of charge – ticket required[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nVenue\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Ellison Hotel\, Castlebar\, Co. The training will help you to support your young people in realising the strengths they have and in finding a language around their transferable life skills. Join Ireland’s United Nations Youth Delegates and NYCI’s Young People’s Committee to create ‘Ireland’s Youth Pact for the Future’.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In September 2024\, countries of the world will come together in the United Nations for the first ever Summit of the Future. The purpose of this meeting is to agree on and commit to a Pact for the Future and a Declaration on Future Generations i.e. how can we protect current and future generations of children and young people against the economic\, social\, and environmental challenges that we face and create today? What do you want the future to look like? What needs to change today to make that future vision a reality?  \nWe want to hear from you and collect your thoughts and ideas\, to bring YOUR voice to the local and national Government in Ireland. We also intend to take your ideas and share them globally at the Summit of the Future held in New York in September 2024.  \nYoung people’s experiences\, opinions\, and hopes for the future are important and will be advocated for\, on a global level. We believe that The Pact for the Future will also show the Government in Ireland (and around the world) that urgent implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals is required: that not achieving the goals by 2030 is not an option.  \nOn the day\, you will be joined by young people from all over Ireland. Together\, you will explore five areas\, with the support of youth workers guiding you on the day. This will be a co-creation journey and you will explore these topics: Sustainable Development & Finance; International Peace & Security; Science\, Technology\, Innovation\, Digital Cooperation; Youth and Future Generations; and Transforming Global Governance.   \nDiscussing these areas will give you an opportunity to understand your relationship and connection to our globalised world. There will be some wise characters to meet along the way\, with food and drink (H2O) to help you find the endless possibilities the future holds.  \nWill you join us? [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30180”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nDate & time\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Saturday 16th March 2024  \n10:00-16:00 \nRegistration opens at 9:30[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30179”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nCost\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Free![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30178”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center” el_class=”img-65″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nVenue\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]William Norton House\, 575 North Circular Rd\, Drumcondra\, Dublin 1\, D01 TR53[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”33901″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” el_class=”img-65″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nCapacity\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]130 (max 15 people per organisation)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDesigned for\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Young People based in Ireland.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nRequirements\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Please note that any young person attending aged 10-17 is required to have a parent/guardian complete and sign this consent form. The training will help you to support your young people in realising the strengths they have and in finding a language around their transferable life skills. It will also help you to learn how to measure the impact of your projects with Skills Summary. \nThe skills people gain through youth work are skills for life. Skills Summary is a fun way for young people to explore these skills\, recognise their strengths and identify areas that need development. \nSkills Summary is an easy to use online tool that captures the transferrable life skills young people gain by participating in non-formal education\, such as volunteering\, youth work and other out-of-school opportunities. It helps young people understand these skills and helps them acquire the language around them\, which builds confidence and enables them to talk about their skills in a way that sounds great to future employers. Skills Summary comes to life when we support young people to build a connection between their experiences\, the learning that happens in youth organisations\, and how the tool can be a very useful and worthwhile place to capture skills development. \n  \nWith Skills Summary young people can: \n\nLearn about a range of life skills\, including leadership\, problem solving\, teamwork\, and more\nIdentify their key strengths as well as areas that need development\nDevelop job interview skills\nBuild an online profile to track career progress\nGather endorsements to help develop a winning CV\nGet advice on how to increase their employability\nDo all of the above for free!\n\nBenefits of Skills Summary for youth organisations and everyone working with young people: \n\nIt values youth work\nIt helps you capture the work you’re already doing!\nIt’s flexible and can be used in many ways and for many different purposes (e.g. as a helpful dialog tool between you and a young person\, for supervision and continuous professional development CPD\, it can even be used in recruitment)\nCaptures `7 Personal & Social Developmental Outcomes` of DCEDIY\nGives a record of the outcomes of your work and helps you measure impact\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”2px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30180”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nDate & time\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nTuesday 5th March 2024\n10.00 am – 12.00 pm \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30179”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nCost\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Free![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30178”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center” el_class=”img-65″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nVenue\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Online (Zoom)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”2px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nObjectives\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\nGet an understanding of Skills Summary and its positive potential\nLearn how to support young people in finding a language around their life skills\nIdentify needs and discuss how this tool can support youth work practice\nExplore the features of the tool\nLearn how to use Skills Summary as a measurement tool\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDesigned for\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n\n\nYouth workers and those working with young people. And how do they support inclusive practice with young people in their communities? \nJoin NYCI’s National Youth Arts Programme and a range of contributors from Local Creative Youth Partnerships to find out more about how they support collaboration\, build new local relationships and provide greater opportunities for young people to experience the joy of creativity. Core to the work of LCYPs is the inclusion of children and young people aged 0 to 25 who may be experiencing marginalisation and a child / youth-centred approach which prioritises hearing and responding to the voice of the child/young person. \nInitially piloted in 3 Education and Training Boards (Kerry ETB\, Laois/Offaly ETB and Limerick/Clare ETB)\, there are now 7 Local Creative Youth Partnerships across the country with the addition of Cork ETB\, Mayo / Sligo / Leitrim ETB\, Galway / Roscommon ETB and Cavan / Monaghan ETB. \nWould you like to get to know the work of the LCYPs? Our founders and staff have backgrounds in cybercrime investigation\, law enforcement\, forensic psychology\, education\, online child protection\, academia and the not-for-profit sector. We can see on a daily basis how technology plays an increasingly important and integral part of both their present\, and future lives. It is being used more and more widely in schools. Whilst we view this as a positive\, empowering development\, even a standard smartphone can potentially allow a child to take risks which were unthinkable 20 years ago. \nTo date\, the charity has spoken directly to almost 40\,000 children and to 9\,000 parents. Based in robust global research\, our educational sessions provide practical advice on how to embrace the opportunities for learning and enjoyment that technology can deliver\, whilst equipping them with the tools to avoid harm. All participants will receive a copy of the MindOut 2.0 resource pack.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30180”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nDate & time\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]7th and 8th of February 2024 \n2 Full Days \n10am – 4pm[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30179”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nCost\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Free![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”purple-box”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”“30178”” img_size=”full” alignment=”center” el_class=”img-65″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text] \nVenue\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Carmelite Community Centre\, 56 Aungier St. Dublin 2[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDesigned for\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Anyone working with young people in a youth work\, out of school or non-formal education setting. Participants are required to attend both days of training.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” el_class=”padding-50″][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nObjectives\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The training objectives are to: \n\nTo understand the aims of delivering MindOut in the out of school setting\nTo know how to carry out a needs analysis and deliver MindOut to young people aged 15-18 in the out of school setting\nTo know where to access supports\, services and training programmes in relation to young people and their mental health and wellbeing\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDelivered by\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]National Youth Health Programme[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row] URL:https://www.youth.ie/event/mindout-7th-and-8th-of-february-2024/ LOCATION:Carmelite Community Centre\, 56 Aungier Street D02 R598 Dublin 2\, Ireland CATEGORIES:Health ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.youth.ie/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/NYCI-Youth-Health-3.jpg END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
